10 June 2008 - New version coming very soon
The Notam Check team is very busy working on an update to allow it to work with the new format AIS PIBs. This version will require the user to paste the PIB into Notam Check PIB window but it will address the issues currently found with the temporary workaround.
We intend this version to be fully compatible with the old format NATS PIBs data if in case those are returned for users to download.
Estimated release date of this new version is 14 June 2008 or before.

08 June 2008 - Temporary workaround for changes to NATS website
The following workaround is a temporary solution to cope with the changes on the NATS web site.
- Use an internet browser to navigate to http://www.ais.org.uk
- Click the NOTAM link
- Login
- Click on either VFR FIR Brief - EGTT (London FIR) or VFR FIR Brief - EGPX (Scottish FIR)
- Right click the web page and click Select All
- Right click the web page and click Copy
- Open and run Windows program Notepad (Start->Programs->Accessories->Notepad) or any plain text editor
- From within Notepad, select from the menu, Edit then Paste
- From within Notepad, select from the menu, Edit then Select All
- From within Notepad, select from the menu, Edit then Copy
- Run Notam Check, select from the menu, Edit then Paste
- From within Notam Check, select from the menu, Tools then Process PIB
Please note the following known problems for this temporary workaround:
- There are no Notam IDs for each plotted Notam.
- There is no text list of plotted, unplotted etc Notams
- The English decode of Notams may decode more than the chosen Notam due to missing carriage returns in the PIB
- Aerodrome Notams are not found or decoded

06 June 2008 - Major changes to NATS website and PIB downloads
If you are seeing a 'Page not Found' instead of a downloaded PIB this is due to major changes on the NATS website.
Notam Check's default download for PIBs is the NATS website. NATS website have recently removed the original format PIBS and replaced them with non ICAO format.
NATS have informed us that they have a schedule of work to take place "by the end of the month" which will include replacing the Q) line. We have requested them to restore the previous ICAO format PIB in full.
As it stands, UK pilots have no free complete source of an entire FIR PIB in ICAO format that can be downloaded in one page. We suggest you, as individual pilots, also email NATS to apply more pressure to them and try to get them to do the work sooner rather than later.
In the meantime, if you can find an alternative source of ICAO format UK PIBs, Notam Check can be configured under Tools->Options to download from any other website.

- Select from menu, Tools -> Options
